The Jays
This morning I saw something really bizzare. I was crossing the overhead bridge to my bus-stop to take my bus to work. I saw two very elderly ladies seated at the bus-stop waiting area. Just as I reached the bus-stop, they suddenly stood up and decided to cross the road. Now why would crossing the road be bizzare?
1. The 2 aunties were carrying heavy bags from their marketing.
2. The 2 aunties looked like they were having some leg problems - couldn't walk fast.
3. The 2 aunties were jaywalking in a heavy traffic road.
It was kind of funny yet scary.
Then comes the next adventure... crossing the railing...
Auntie 1 tries to cross the railing but realised she couldn't even place her first leg over. She tried a few times before coming up with a brilliant idea. She placed all her grocery bags on the other side first. Then she placed her first leg over and sat on the railing (because the railing seems to be higher than her). As she has difficulty moving her other leg up, she asked Auntie 2 to help her lift the other leg. Auntie 2 put down all her own groceries and helped Auntie 1 lift her leg. It was a heavy task but she succeeded!
I was really quite amazed at the 2 aunties' antics. Primarily because they chose when it's the heaviest traffic to cross the road and they choose to climb over that railing when just 2 metres down, there is NO railing. Of course, there's the overhead bridge right beside the bus-stop for our safety but maybe the aunties found it too strenuous to climb the steps.
Just when I thought I saw enough for the day, I saw this young lady trying to dash across the busiest street in Singapore at peak hour - Raffles Place Road (where Shenton Way connects to Raffles Place).
I am just amazed at how little regard they have for their own safety.
